I have had the opportunity to participate in the COABE Virtual Conference for the past two years, and it has been a great learning experience. From the comfort of my office, I have had access to national presenters sharing the latest information in the field including how adult education programs are expanding and connecting students through e-learning; implementing the standards for mathematical practice; family service learning; professional development through digital learning; and developing algebraic thinking with adult learners, to name just a few of the high-quality sessions.
Additionally, many sessions include resources and lessons that teachers can use immediately in the classroom. The sessions are focused, and the presenters include teachers, administrators, colleagues from workforce, state leadership, and many who are considered to have expertise in their content area. The presentations are approximately one hour in length, very focused on the session topic, and audience members from across the country participate with the presenters through the webinar chat feature. It is interesting and fun to interact with colleagues from all over the United States.
Once the virtual conference is over, participants have access to all the resources and webinar recordings for the next six months. Do you want to attend the COABE Conference but you don’t have the funds for travel and hotel rooms? Do you want to attend COABE sessions but are limited by time? Pick and choose the sessions that are most interesting to you and view them now or anytime within six months of the virtual conference.
I have shared resources with colleagues and referred back to specific session resources on many occasions. It has been an excellent investment of my time, and I highly recommend Pennsylvania’s participation for the 2018 COABE Virtual Conference. Most exciting of all, PAACE members attend free!
